Celebrating our Volunteers!

It’s the 40th Anniversary of Volunteers Week – when we celebrate and say thank you to the special people that make our community a better place to live.

Here at Hedge End Town Council we’d like to thank all those who volunteer with us, helping us run events including the Christmas Lights Switch On and Christmas Market, Remembrance Sunday Parade and also the dedicated Hedge End Conservation Volunteers who give up their time once a month to assist council staff with a range of conservation iniatives which enhance the area.

Volunteers Week starts on the first Monday in June every year. It was developed as a chance to recognise, celebrate and thank the UK’s incredible volunteers for all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector, and society as a whole. The first Volunteers’ Week took place in 1984.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back to society and help others, which in turn makes you feel great.
