Drummond Community Centre has seen an increase in the amount of anti-social behaviour incidents which are now being directed at staff and hirers who are feeling intimidated whilst they are on site. Whilst ASB is a policing matter and all incidents of this nature should be reported to them, the Council have been in discussions about what they can do to reduce and prevent these incidents.
At its meeting on the 6 September 2022, the council agreed that the bund surrounding the community centre should be removed. This is to allow for greater visbility of the building and the surrounding area and has worked in other Council sites.
The area will then be landscaped with trees and fencing and the grass area extended.
At the same meeting it was agreed that the spoil from the bund would be used to infill Beattie Rise pond area. The pond has been monitored for some time and expert advice sought from the engineers of the original development who have confirmed it was only ever an ornamental pond and not flood attenuation.
The area will then be re-landscaped to improve safety, open space and enhancing the woodland.
