Top Environmental Award for Hedge End

The Albert Road Cemetery and War Memorial Garden have been judged to be amongst the best in the country and honoured with the Green Flag Award for the 16th year running!
Chairman of Hedge End Town Council’s Recreation and Amenities Committee Cllr. Leigh Hadaway (pictured left raising the flag) said “The Green Flag Award is a recognised mark of excellence, and we are proud to have achieved this status once again.
“This is a fantastic achievement and a true credit to our dedicated grounds staff, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards required.”
In granting this top environmental award, judges praised Town Council staff for their dedication, noting that those who look after both areas obviously take pride in the work they carry out.
Run by Keep Britain Tidy Charity, the Green Flag scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard across the world.
