Serving the Community Awards 2023/24

Congratulations to the winners of the Serving the Community Awards.

Sarah House was awarded the Serving the Community Award.

Sarah is the volunteer organiser/co-ordinator and treasurer of the Hedge End Lunch Club, held in the 2000 Centre every Thursday. This club serves a weekly hot meal and has been going for over 40 years, with Sarah taking over the helm 8 years ago. The company it provides for older people is invaluable. Sarah was nominated by her fellow volunteers who said “without Sarah and all her hard work this would not happen.”

Sidnie Killen was awarded the Young Person’s Serving the Community Award.

Sidnie volunteers for the Southampton Sunday Lunch Club. This charity provides a free and nutritious lunch for anyone homeless or in need.  Throughout her young life she had been involved with the Hedge End Carnival, winning the children’s fancy dress competition at the age of two, being the Carnival princess and was most notable as the Hedge End Carnival Queen.
