Double Delight – Two New Play Areas!

The Official Opening of the Locke Road Play Area

We’re thrilled to let you know that we have opened TWO new play parks in Hedge End!

Both the Locke Road and Nelsons Gardens playgrounds have undergone complete transformations with brand new equipment, surfacing, landscaping and fencing.

Cutting the ribbon, Chair of Hedge End Town Council Cllr. Ron Nichols said “We are so thrilled. They’re both absolutely wonderful.”

Rain couldn’t stop play as children were so excited to try out the colourful new slides, activity towers, swings and rockers.

Chair of the Council Cllr. Ron Nichols cuts the ribbon to officially open the new Nelsons Gardens Play Park.

Chair of the Recreation and Amenities Committee Cllr. Leigh Hadaway said “We’re delighted to open these new play parks. They are safe and fun spaces where children can play, explore and make memories together. We’d also like to thank the local residents for their patience and support during the works.”

The Locke Road area has been redesigned so that fencing now only surrounds the play area, allowing for a green space perfect for activities like dog walking and informal ball games. We will also be installing new benches and bins.

The costs were covered by a grant from Eastleigh Borough Council.
