Defibrillator Donated to Hedge End

Our thanks to Hanif Karimi from Hedge End Gym who has donated a defibrillator, now installed at the Turnpike Pavilion.

He said “As someone who has lived with a pacemaker for 40 years since I was 4 years old, these are essential. I have seen firsthand the difference they make.

“Getting a defib to someone who is having a cardiac arrest within three minutes gives a 70% better chance of survival. At the Turnpike Pavilion we have cricket, kids playing football, dog walkers, a play park and so much more. For myself, and for Hedge End Gym, we love our local community and just want to do whatever we can to help.”

Chair of Hedge End Town Council’s Recreation and Amenities Committee Cllr. Leigh Hadaway said “We are deeply grateful to Hedge End Gym for donating a life-saving defibrillator for our community.”

Defibrillators are crucial in treating sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), where the heart stops beating effectively.

The new defibrillator will be maintained by Hedge End Town Council, which now looks after six defibrillators in the town.
