ANNUAL PARISH ASSEMBLY - MONDAY 3 APRIL

Thank you to everyone who attended the Annual Parish Assembly on Monday 3 April. Members of the public came along to hear reports from local County, Borough and Town Councillors, as well as local groups including the Youth Service and Kings Community Church. The meeting finished with the annual awards giving for both the Serving the Community Awards and the Allotment Awards. 

 

The Serving the Community Award was won this year by Heather Jones who was nominated for both her volunteering work with the Hedge End Horticultural Society and her volunteering work within the Hedge End allotment community.

 

Vera Blunt was also recognised for the many years she has dedicated to volunteering her time to various local clubs and organisations in Hedge End.  

 

The Young Person Serving the Community Award was won by Joshua Buckle who was nominated for his ongoing work with the HEWEB Youth Council for which he is an active member and has played an important role in encouraging others to have a voice, be active and participate.

 

Charlotte Murphy was also recognised for her work with the 25th Itchen North Cub Park for her commitment and dedication to the local community, raising the profile of scouts and young people in the area.

 

Helga Wiegler was presented with the allotment award for 'Best Cultivated Plot - Kanes Field' and Jane Best was awarded the 'Best Cultivated Plot - Spring Field'. Certificates of recommendation were also awarded to Philip Ravenscroft, John Blake, Jacqueline Hickman, Leighton Moat, Nicholas Gladwell, James Stanley, Mr and Mrs Barfoot, Debbie Harvey, Veronica Ciampa and Denise Pollock. 

SOUTHERN WATER GROUNDWORKS - ST JOHNS RECREATION GROUND

Please be advised, Southern Water are commencing major groundworks at The Recreation Ground, St Johns Road on Monday 5 December 2016. We have also been advised that there is a requirement to complete initial work on the highway (both St Johns Rd and Burlsedon Rd) which will commence on Wednesday 16 November 2016. A new sewer pipe connection is to be provided under Section 98 of the Water Industry Act 1991, the connection for which needs to be made through the recreation ground. Contractors Cappagh Browne will be on site for several months to complete this work.

 

UPDATE: ST JOHN'S ROAD - NOW OPEN 21 APRIL 2017
Plans for a temporary road closure of St. Johns Road, Hedge End. Between Hedge End Village Hall and Newcliffe Gardens. This is due to start on 3 April 2017 for 3 months, although works are expected to run until 25 April 2017. The closure is due to the installation and connection of sewer to site. Works to be carried out by Cappagh Browne Utilities in partnership with Southern Water. 

Roads to be Closed:  Open, cut and install connection of sewer for development site. Alternative Route: Kanes Hill, Charles Watts Way and Upper Northam Road. Period of Closure:  Monday 3 April 2017 to 3 July 2017 (3 months). Notwithstanding, the closure is expected to finish on 25 April 2017.
